PRESENTATION

Eleonora Meier started her artistic journey experimenting with various means of expression, from drawing to video and to installations. Her work progressively focused  on painting. A characteristic of her artistic research has though remained the quest of transforming the bidimensionality of a painted surface in a spacial dimension, so that the elements represented in the painting gain an installative quality and a sculptural value.

The references Eleonora Meier uses are eclectic and free, and often, by thin thread,  inextricably related to her daily life experiences. Her works transform found or taken pictures, but also translates dreamlike states and imaginary sceneries. In a recent series of paintings, the museum setting itself and exhibition backgrounds appear to be mysterious theatrical back stages where unknown performances are taking place.
