PRESENTATION

French, born 1994, lives and works in Lyon, France

Hugo Ziegler’s latest pictorial research led him to question the notion of gesture and frame outside the canvas, the frame and the painting. His paintings are made with the finger on the touch screen of his phone, and take meaning, according to him, by their materialization in space. Inspired by the cosmological sciences and a boxing practice, he approaches his gestures as a creator and revealer of space. He tries, by this appropriation of the digital considered “finger making”, to exploit the gestural potential to reveal other places.

Color occupies space as much as space occupies color.
